Terms of Use

Effective 6 June 2026 · Version 1.0

In plain English

Sigil is a personal credential gateway you sign up for. You stay in control of what your AI agents can do. Free plan and paid plans are available. Use it for your own personal data — don't use it for things that are illegal or abusive. We can close accounts that break these rules. We try hard not to break the service; if we do, we'll fix it.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you") and Sigil ("we", "us", "Sigil") governing your use of the Sigil service at app.joinsigil.com, the marketing site at joinsigil.com, the Sigil command-line interface, and any related software (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

2. Who we are

Sigil is operated by the founding team behind Maturo.ai. The legal entity standing behind Sigil is being finalised as of June 2026 and will be a UK limited company. Until that company is registered, the responsible party is the Maturo founding team, contactable at [email protected].

3. Your account

You need an account to use the Service. To create one:

One account per person. Don't share, sell, or transfer your account.

4. What the Service does

Sigil holds credentials (OAuth tokens) for third-party services that you connect, and proxies requests from AI agents you authorise. Sigil:

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We'll usually warn you first; we may act without warning in serious cases (active abuse, security threat).

6. Plans, billing, and refunds

6.1 Free plan

Sigil offers a free plan with limits on connections, agents, and audit-log retention. You can use the free plan for as long as you like, subject to fair-use protections against automated abuse.

6.2 Paid plans

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance via Stripe. Prices are listed at app.joinsigil.com/dashboard/billing. We can change prices with at least 30 days' notice; the new price applies on your next renewal.

6.3 Trials

New accounts may receive a 14-day trial of paid features without a card on file. At the end of the trial, you stay on the free plan unless you actively subscribe.

6.4 Cancellation

You can cancel any time from the billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then. We do not pro-rate refunds for unused time on monthly plans.

6.5 Refunds

UK and EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date you start a paid plan. If the Service has been substantially used in that period (e.g. tool calls executed, sigils applied), we may decline the refund or pro-rate it. Outside the 14-day window, refunds are at our discretion. We always refund accidental double-charges.

7. Your data and your AI agents

Anything you put into Sigil — connection tokens, agent definitions, scope grants, audit history — is your data. You retain ownership and you can export or delete it at any time. How we handle it is described in our Privacy Policy.

When you connect an upstream third-party service (Gmail, GitHub, etc.) to Sigil, you remain bound by that provider's terms. Sigil is not a substitute for compliance with those terms.

When you authorise an AI agent to act through Sigil, that agent acts on your behalf. You are responsible for actions your agents take. Sigil's scope and audit controls help you bound that responsibility; they do not eliminate it.

8. Open source and third-party components

The Service is built on open-source software. Components carry their own licences, which are reproduced where required by their authors. The Sigil command-line interface is distributed under a permissive licence specified in the installer; nothing in these Terms restricts the rights granted by that licence.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but it's an internet service — we can't guarantee 100% uptime. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where reasonable. We may add, change, or remove features over time. Material breaking changes will be announced at least 14 days in advance via email to affected accounts.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

On termination, we delete your account per the timelines in the Privacy Policy. We retain billing records as required by law.

11. Warranties and disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement). We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected immediately.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under applicable law (including, in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015).

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Nothing in this section limits liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against losses arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your violation of an upstream provider's terms, or anything you direct your AI agents to do that you weren't entitled to do.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that we can't resolve informally is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except that, as a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are notified by email at least 30 days in advance; minor clarifications are published with an updated effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
